Region

Near Höfn. A quieter alternative to Jökulsárlón.
Hoffellsjökull offers what Jökulsárlón cannot: solitude. This Vatnajökull outlet glacier near Höfn flows into a growing proglacial lagoon that sees a fraction of the visitors. It is also one of Iceland's most scientifically studied glaciers, with decades of monitoring data documenting its retreat and the effects of climate change on Iceland's ice.
