- Just 20 minutes northeast of downtown Reykjavik via Route 1 toward Akureyri
- Turn off Route 1 onto Route 36 at Mosfellsbær to enter the valley
- Gljúfrasteinn (Laxness Museum) is well-signposted from the main road
- Public bus Route 15 from Reykjavik reaches Mosfellsbær, then walk or taxi into the valley
- Very easy day trip from Reykjavik — combine with Golden Circle excursion via Route 36
