Hvítá, meaning "White River," is one of Iceland's most significant glacial rivers. Stretching approximately 40 km from the Langjökull glacier, its milky-white waters carry glacial sediment through the highlands before creating the spectacular Gullfoss waterfall—a two-stage cascade that drops 32 meters into a dramatic canyon. The river is also one of the country's top destinations for whitewater rafting.
