Kvíárjökull is one of the most visually dramatic outlet glaciers of Vatnajökull, but also one of the most dangerous. Its steep tongue is riddled with deep crevasses that make any approach on foot extremely hazardous. There are no commercial hiking tours on this glacier. Instead, visitors appreciate its raw beauty from safe viewing distances—a reminder of the power and peril of Iceland's glacial landscape.
